In addition to supporting a number of events and activities surrounding Estonian culture and arts, we also host events celebrating important Estonian holidays such as Independence Day and midsummer Jaanipäev.
How can I join the Vancouver Estonian Society?
VES Membership information and renewals can be found here, and joining helps you support VES events, programs, and our VES property in Mission, Mäeotsa.
Membership in the Society is open to all persons over the age of eighteen (18) years who were born in Estonia, whose parents or ancestors were born in Estonia, and for their spouses. For VES Family members under 18, they are admitted as honorary members.
How do I sign up for VES email newsletters?

Where can I learn more about volunteering?
The Vancouver Estonian Society is run on volunteer power and we greatly appreciate all offers of help. We are always looking for helping hands at events and with the maintenance of our Mäeotsa property. We are also happy to help direct you towards other groups in the Vancouver Estonian community who may have volunteer opportunities.
The best way to stay up to date on event and volunteer opportunities is to view our events page, subscribe to our email newsletter, follow us on Facebook @vesbc, or reach out via the contact form above.
Where can I access past Läänekaare Postipoiss issues?
We are currently working on VES website updates to include PDF downloads for past issues. However, in the interim, copies of all issues can be found at the National Library of Estonia’s digital archive DIGAR. Under the thumbnail image of the latest issue (on the right), select the year that you are interested in.
When do you celebrate Estonian Independence Day?
Estonian Independence Day takes place on February 24, however we commemorate this important holiday on the Sunday nearest this date. Learn more about this celebration and others at our events page.
Where is ‘Mäeotsa’ located?
‘Mäeotsa’ is our community gathering place located at 32113 Olson Avenue in Mission, BC. Please note that the property is gated and locked with security on site—not available for public access. For further information about our Mäeotsa property, please contact us.
