Join the Estonian Canadian Business Chamber (ECBC) for drinks and snacks, sponsored by North Point Brewing Co and ECBC. During the social, ECBC will also share their vision for the future.
7:00–9:00 pm – VETK Town Hall #2
Facilitated by Harry Marsland and available virtually, this important Town Hall will focus on discussing potential options for the future of our community and properties.
VETK (Vancouveri Eesti Tuleviku Komittee/Vancouver Estonian Future Committee) is a community-led initiative exploring how we can create a financially sustainable future for our Estonian community while honouring our shared history. At our first Town Hall in April 2026, we worked together to define a shared vision for the future. Now, it’s time to start putting that vision into action and discussing potential paths forward for our two properties.
This work has become increasingly urgent: in recent years, BC Assessment significantly increased Mäeotsa’s assessed value, driving a major increase in property taxes. This has left VES with only a few years of financial runway if we don’t find a more sustainable path forward.
To find our path forward, we need to ask some real questions, openly discuss the opportunities and trade-offs ahead of us, and hear from the community about what matters most.
The September 17th Town Hall will be an especially important opportunity for anyone who wants to have a voice in this process. We strongly encourage all community members to come, listen, ask questions, and share their perspective (in-person or virtually).
